ozuosoroshii:

Yuasa is a god among men but he had a magnificent team working with him on Tatami Galaxy and his other series. I feel like everyone else kind of gets shorted despite the fact things like sound engineering and background design are integral to a series’s success. So here we go, Tatami Galaxy creative team appreciation post.

Ito Nobutake, commonly known as Nobutaka

Not only was he in charge of the character design for the show, adapting from Nakamura’s original novel designs, but he was the chief animation director for 5 episodes and a co-director for another 5. He also did the key animation for episode 11. He and Yuasa worked together often, in fact he did the character design and was chief animator for several episodes of Kemonozume and Kaiba and did key animation for Mind Game and Happy Machine. Outside of working with Yuasa he was the animation director and did key animation for several episode of Samurai Champloo and Denno Coil and has done key animation for a few dozen different series and movies like almost half the Gundam franchise, Revolutionary Girl Utena, and Summer Wars.

Uehara Shinichi (art director)

He did a lot of work for Satoshi Kon, providing backgrounds for Tokyo Godfathers, Paprika, Millennium Actress, and Paranoia Agent. He also did backgrounds for Steins;Gate and was the art director for episodes 7 and 8 of the Aoi Bungaku series.

Kimura Eriko (sound director)

Kimura was also the sound director for Tiger & Bunny, The Secret World of Arrietty, and Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea.

Oshima Michiru (music)

Oshima was behind the music of the original Full Metal Alchemist series and its movie, Xam’d: Lost Memories, and over a dozen other shows and movies.

Yokoyama Akitoshi, Makihara Ryoutarou, Mihara Michio, and Eun Young Choi are all recurring team members for animation direction, key frame animation, storyboards, scripting, and episode direction who worked with Yuasa on Kaiba, Kemonozume, and Tatami Galaxy. They’ve done the same for series and movies like Denno Coil, Cowboy Bebop, Summer Wars, Paranoia Agent, Tekkonkinkreet, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Monster,Michiko and Hatchin, The Cat Returns, and Gurren Lagann.

So a big round of applause for Yuasa’s awesome team at Madhouse Studios. Hooray!
